This movie stars Chevy Chase before he became famous and early Jennifer Welles right before she became one of the top sexploitation stars of the 1970s. Groove Tube is a series of parody short sketches copied by Saturday Night Live.
These sketches were developed on tour to college venues and selected based on audience responses and restaged on film. Chase later used the news desk bits from the movie for his signature Weekend Update on Saturday Night Live.
Jennifer Welles began her career in the 1960s in several films and slowly graduated to soft core and then hard core films. She is best known for Inside Jennifer Welles - a self memoir she starred in and directed which received wide spread main stream attention and was one of the best hardcore movies of the 1970s. She was probably the first famous movie star MILF or cougar of the 1970s as she was much older than her peers in the industry when she filmed inside Jennifer Welles.
