"The Exotic Dreams of Casanova" is a 1971 American sexploitation fantasy comedy film. Joe Casanova, a modern-day spaghetti western star, is supposedly a direct descendant of the famous Casanova. During a wild sex swingers party at his home, he hits his head and goes into a dream where he is prosecuted and put on trial for violations of obscenity law. His attorney successfully gets the charges dismissed but not before the judge decrees that he marry his lady. He then comes out of the trance. The film features several actors prominent in Harry Novak films. Johnny Rocco, Uschi Digard, Debbie Osborne, Jack Richesin, Terri Johnson, Neola Graef, Vincent Barbi, Kathy Hilton, Bruce Kimball, and John Tull. I tried to clean up the sound but there is still a slight background distortion in the audio. I upgraded it to 4K at 30 fps so the file is larger around 5GB.
Harry H. Novak is credited as the executive producer. Novak was a significant figure in the exploitation film industry, known for distributing and sometimes producing low-budget, sexually suggestive movies.
Novak made dozens of exploitation films and was known for his ability to finish a film in a week on a shoestring budget. It show here. The plot is bizarre and surreal, especially with the dream sequence that takes up a significant portion of the film. The film is known for its liberal use of whipped cream in some of its sexual scenes , which has become a somewhat memorable, if peculiar, element associated with it. I am always looking for the craziest sexploitation films out there from the sixties and seventies and Harry Novak rarely fails to deliver.
