Pinocchio is an erotic parody comedy fantasy sexploitation film that takes a classic fairy tale plot and twists it for adult audiences with infusions of some happy somewhat successful comedy bits. Instead of the nose, Pinocchio's manliness grows when he copulates un-purely.

Gepetta (Monica Gayle) is a virgin toymaker that seeks a good man not a son. Frustrated by her lack of companionship, she carves the life-sized, anatomically complete, and handsome male puppet, Pinocchio (Alex Roman). Pinocchio’s brain is childlike and he is easily duped. Despite the Fairy Godmother’s (Dyanne Thorne) warnings, he is tricked by the local bordello manager Jo Jo (Eduardo Ranez) and Mabella (Karen Smith) to become a prize stud. The film's tagline is "It's Not His Nose that Grows!". His initial anatomical endowment becomes freakish and grows to unmanageable proportions and an asset becomes a burdensome curse. Pinocchio redeems himself when he saves Gepetta from some thugs and his sappy tears become real, his manliness returned to its original above average size, and the two live happily ever after.

The film has a bawdy burlesque feel with lots of innocent cheerful sleaziness shot in what looks like a terrible and dark set location (I tried my best to clean it up). The narrative is episodic, where there are various consecutive sexual encounters with a big bordello style orgy party as the climax. This is one of the first of many American cinema sexploitation fantasy fairy tale remakes such as Cinderella (1977) and Alice in Wonderland (1976).

The highlight is the Fairy Godmother played by sexploitation era icon Dyanne Thorne from the Ilsa movies. Thorne, who plays the Fairy Godmother, became a significant figure in the sexploitation genre, soon to achieve wider notoriety for her title role in the infamous Ilsa series that started with She Wolf of the SS (1975). Thorne's portrayal is sweet and her beauty and prominent voice make her the star of the tale which is in stark contrast to the sadistic, commanding persona she would later embody as Ilsa. Thorne reportedly secured the role after director Corey Allen and producer Chris Warfield saw her performing in a Las Vegas stage show. Monica Gayle was already familiar to exploitation audiences, and starred in films like Switchblade Sisters (1975) and The Harem Bunch (1969) and appears in Southern Comforts offered here. There is a X rated version of the film out there, but I could not find it. Sexploitation legend Uschi Digard of Russ Meyer legend had an uncredited scene as well where her voice is overdubbed with a gruff man's voice for comedic stylistic effect.

The film was also referenced in an episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000 (Episode 404), cementing its place in the annals of bad cinema history. . The film's most enduring legacy is arguably its simplicity, delivering a concept that was instantly understandable, humorous, and transgressive.
