In the original tale, a poor woodcutter and his wife try to ditch their children in the woods. The witch lures the children and cages Hansel so she can eat him. She tells Gretel to fatten Hansel up for a few days and then tells Gretel to see if the oven's hot, and Gretel kicks the witch in and kills her. Her and Hansel gather up the rich gems and live happily ever after. This Grimm Brothers tale of Hansel and Gretel has long been characterized as a sexual story meant to show how dependent men are lured by and saved by women. Countess Helga (the witch)) lures Hansel and Gretel into her castle (gingerbread) and places a hex, sort of like the lotus flower in Percy and the Olympians, on the minds of unsuspecting travelers. Gretel breaks the hex by copulating with Hansel.
The movie is of German origin and dubbed (for the most part except for a few parts) in English. The film was made in German and originally released as "Hänsel und Gretel verliefen sich im Wald" and in the US as “The Naked Wytche” and later releases as The Erotic Adventures of Hansel and Gretel. The two female leads are Francy Flair (Gretel) and Barbara Scott (The Countess Witch). This is a perfect example of a seventies German Bavarian soft-sex classic with a low budget, pretty girls and cleverly crafted sanitized somewhat suggestive shots. There is a fully uncut VHS version in German lurking around out there but I could not find it.
