This is a perfect example of an western sexploitation film. The plot is typical western. Two bounty hunters are in pursuit of an outlaw. The outlaw is ambushed outside a saloon in a small town. The daughter of a farmer is in town when it happens and she is impressed with the work of the bounty hunters. She asks them to help her get rid of a man that is threatening her father. One of the bounty hunters falls for her and they agree to help her. There is a shoot out in town and everyone lives happily ever after.

Rene Bond, a dominant figure in the Los Angeles pornography scene of the early 1970s who freely admits she was in the business for the money has a good part here. She has appeared in hundreds of films and loops, from soft to hardcore, and generally came across as an innocent naive character type. She was one of the first actresses to receive breast implants which led to a lot more work. You can see her before breast implants in Country Cuzzins and after implants here. Bond also established her own mail-order company and sold photos and slides of herself. Although not typical, her parents were supportive of her career. In interviews, she describes the long hours she called “one day wonders” where she would shoot from sun-up to sun-down where producers and directors were on shoestring budgets and had to get several scenes done in a day. She also talks a lot about the fear of busts by law enforcement. During her porn career, she mostly avoided kink and was more of a wholesome actress. She retired in the late 1970s and passed away in 1996 from cirrhosis of the liver (Although I can’t confirm it, I suspect she was another victim of direct silicone shot implants and their horrible health effects).

Heather Vale emerged briefly onto the American film scene in the early 1970s, associated with the distinct and often controversial world of low-budget exploitation cinema. Her documented appearances are confined to a handful of films produced between 1972 and 1974. Here, Heather Vale portrays Jenny Novak. Her other confirmed contributions include supporting roles in this film, Gary Graver's psychological horror-drama And When She Was Bad... (as Rita), and Henri Pachard's likely satirical ensemble piece Video Vixens! (as Clarissa Richardson). Heather is an example of a career of many performers who worked in the demanding, fast-paced world of 1970s exploitation filmmaking. Vale, like many others, vanished from public record, leaving behind only these few cinematic appearances.

John Alderman’s career spanned decades and genres within low-budget cinema, Alderman appeared in everything from 1960s softcore to 1970s drive-in action and horror, and even 1980s hardcore pornography under the alias Frank Hallowell. John was born into a family of a prominent lawyer and studied theater at Syracuse University. Alderman initially secured an 18-month contract with 20th Century Fox in the late 1950s but was eventually dropped and then turned to independent exploitation films, working frequently with producer David F. Friedman. He occasionally landed roles in mainstream films like Escape from the Planet of the Apes (1971) and The Stunt Man (1980). He died of a heart attack in 1987 at age 52. He reminds me of Carey Grant but more rugged with an average voice. He carries most of the movies in which he stars and took his job quite seriously.

Time was not kind to the movie’s reel film. The copy that was digitized here is quite damaged but the film is still a good stark example of the gritty, morally complex, Western through the lens of exploitation filmmaking, which is a delight when compared to the sanitized depictions of the American West produced under the Hays code. An interesting tid bit: This film was included within the plot of the 1976 horror film Drive in Massacre.
